In 2011, we have launched Durst App, the "spätifinder", an application available for iOS and Android. It was rather intended to be a fun project but brought us quite a few clients in the end. Relaunch plans are on.
My first costumers actually found me through organic search. They were looking for a place where they could spend some weeks surfing and keep up with work.

Pretty simple in my eyes. Make yourself known, self brand yourself and get to know people. People know people, and those people need you. Well, if they don't - Make them think they do. Confidence is key.

All of my customers so far have been through word of mouth, or my own networks, established when I had no idea what I was going to do with myself!
You want to be sure your first customers fit into your target niche segment. Better be diligent to search your first leads, pamper them and test your assumptions as you introduce them to your work. Good initial customers are a long term asset.
